Abstract
Description of the subject: Tilapia species are widely used in fish farming but have been fewest studied from a morphometric perspective. They undergo significant fluctuations in size and shape due to environmental factors. Knowledge of their morphological and structural diversity is therefore essential. Objective: The study aimed to determine the intra- and interspecific morphometric variability of Tilapia fish according to habitat. Method: Diurnal and nocturnal fishing let captured 343 hybrid specimens and 266 Coptodon zillii specimens in the Ebrie Lagoon and in four lakes. Morphological analysis was be realized using geometric morphometry with the CLIC software, based on the digitalization of landmarks on images of the captured fish. Classification by discriminant analysis was realized out and completed with phylogenetic trees.
