Abstract

Introduction: Medication reconciliation (MedRec) is a critical patient safety procedure that reduces medication discrepancies at care transition points. Pharmacy interns represent a key emerging workforce for MedRec implementation; however, data specifically examining MedRec-related KAP among pharmacy interns in Saudi Arabia remain limited. Aim: To evaluate the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) of pharmacy interns in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, regarding MedRec, and to explore associations between KAP levels and demographic factors, clinical rotation completion, and reported formal training. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 93 pharmacy interns in Jeddah using a self-administered questionnaire adapted from a previously published instrument. Non-parametric statistical methods were applied. Mann-Whitney U tests compared KAP scores by gender, clinical rotation completion, and formal Med Rec training. Spearmans rank-order correlation assessed relationships between KAP domains.
