Abstract

Aims: This study investigates the petrographic, mineralogical, and geochemical characteristics of two representative lithotypes from the Guiglo area in southwestern Cote d Ivoire: a migmatitic gneiss (NZO-1) and an amphibole-bearing augen gneiss (GUI-1), to constrain their petrogenesis and tectonic significance within the Palaeoproterozoic evolution of the West African Craton. Methodology: Field structural measurements, optical microscopy, electron microprobe mineral analyses, and whole-rock major and trace element geochemistry were employed. Mineral compositions were determined using a CAMECA SX100 electron microprobe at Ifremer, France. Major elements were analyzed by XRF and trace elements by ICP-MS at ACTLABS, Canada.
