Abstract

Hearing loss is a pathological condition resulting in a partial or complete loss of the sense of hearing [1].It is defined as a reduction in auditory acuity, regardless of its severity and/or etiology. The term hypoacusis is also used and generally refers to mild to moderate degrees of hearing impairment. Complete loss of hearing is referred to as cophosis (anacusis) and may be unilateral or bilateral. Hearing impairment perceived by the patient or reported by relatives is a common reason for consultation in otorhinolaryngology (ENT).
