Abstract

Background: Nephrotic syndrome is an important chronic renal disorder occurring in children and is characterized by heavy proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, edema and hyperlipidemia. It can significantly affect the childs health and may impose considerable physical, psychological and caregiving burdens on the family. Childhood nephrotic syndrome is predominantly idiopathic, with minimal change disease representing an important histopathological form. Relapses are common, making appropriate home and caregiving burdens on the family. Relapses are common, making appropriate home care, medication administration, fluid management, nutritional management, infection prevention and follow-up essential components of care.
