Abstract

Background:Ashru (crying) is recognised as a vital behavioural risk factor in cardiovascular health. Traditional Ayurveda identifies Hridaya (the heart) as the seat of Vyana Vayu (circulation), Manas (mind) and Sadhaka Pitta (emotional consciousness). Inhibiting Adharaniya Vegas (natural urges), specifically Ashru VegaDharana (tear suppression), causes Hridroga (heart disease) and Shiroroga (cranial disease). This study synthesizes classical Ayurvedic texts with modern neurochemistry and clinical epidemiology to investigate this pathophysiological link. Methods: This cross-disciplinary comparative review analysedBrihat Trayi (classical Ayurvedic texts) alongside contemporary biomedical literature from PubMed, PMC, Google Scholar and JAMA. Search queries focused on emotional tearing, vagal activation, chemical composition of tearsand clinical cardiovascular risks.
