ASSESSMENT OF ANGIOSPERM FLORA AT DUPCHANCHIA UPAZILA OF BOGURA DISTRICT, BANGLADESH FOCUSING ON IMPORTANT MEDICINAL PLANTS

A comprehensive floristic study was conducted to assess angiosperm diversity in Dupchanchia Upazila of Bogura District, Bangladesh, one and half year period spanning July 2024 to December 2025. Repeated field visits and specimen collection recorded 202 species, representing 157 genera across 64 families. Habit analysis showed that herbs were the most abundant with 87 species (43.07%), followed by trees (54 species; 26.73%), shrubs (39 species; 19.31%), and climbers (22 species; 10.89%).Family composition showed clear dominance of certain angiosperm families. Asteraceae was the leading family with 18 species.Other well represented families included Fabaceae, Cucurbitaceae Amaranthaceae,Apocynaceae,Solanaceae,Poaceae,Moraceae, Brassicaceae, and Malvaceae represented by 18, 16,13,11,9, 8,7,7,6, and 6 species. Species occurrence indicated that 51 species (25.25%) were very common, 136 species (67.33%) were common, 14 species (6.93%) were rare, and one species (0.49%) was very rare. Of the total flora, 69 species (34.16%) were wild, while 133 species (65.84%) were planted. Several species have medicinal importanceand are used locally in healthcare practices. Botanical and local names, family, habit, type, abundance, and voucher number were recorded, providing baseline data for conservation and sustainable utilization of angiosperm resources.
