Abstract
Generative artificial intelligence is now beginning to change the way large infrastructure organisations turn complex project information into actions for executives. In the case of Saudi giga-projects, the issue is not just about producing more analysis; it is about creating visual narratives that are reliable, traceable and ready to support decisions in projects that are of a huge scale, highly interdependent, subject to rapid change and involve a wide range of stakeholder interests. This review brings together research that has been published between 2020 and 2025 on generative AI, human-AI decision making, explainable AI, the digitalisation of construction, digital twins and project readiness in Saudi Arabia. Its aim is to find out how generative systems can assist with executive visual communication without replacing accountable human judgement. The evidence shows four repeated opportunities: the rapid synthesis of heterogeneous records, multimodal reporting, scenario-based explanation and adaptive visualisation. But these advantages depend on the quality of the data, the provenance of the data, the organisation's readiness, model governance and on having explicit control over uncertainty.
