DYNAMIQUES FAMILIALES ET REPRESENTATIONS SOCIALES DE L IMPACT DE L USAGE DES RESEAUX SOCIAUX NUMERIQUES DANS LA VILLE DE MANGA

This article analyzes the contribution of digital social media to family harmony in the city of Manga. It is based on the theoretical assumption that excessive use of social media-viewed as a passing fad in the city-contributes to strained relationships within families. While social media is seen as an opportunity to strengthen family ties-primarily in urban settings—its excessive use, perceived as a fad, represents a source of family conflict and marital instability. How does the use of social media influence behaviors and values in the city of Manga? The objective of this research is to understand the restructuring of family dynamics in urban settings due to the impact of social media. To conduct this research, a qualitative method was employed. We implemented this approach through in-depth individual interviews and a literature review. Data analysis was thematic. The results show that the use of social media is changing traditional forms of communication within households. Social media exacerbates relational distancing in the context of urban individualism and anonymity. It contributes to the weakening of family cohesion. In addition to their influence on behaviors and values, they have been found to be catalysts for family conflicts and marital instability. Therefore, the challenge lies not in rejecting these digital tools, but rather in using them in a balanced and supervised manner.
