Abstract
Background: Lichtenstein tension-free mesh repair is widely used for inguinal hernia, but prosthetic material and mesh-related complications have sustained interest in non-mesh tissue repair. Desarda repair reinforces the posterior wall using an undetached strip of external oblique aponeurosis. Aim and objectives: To compare Desarda tissue repair with Lichtenstein mesh repair for primary unilateral inguinal hernia, evaluating operative time, early postoperative pain, complications, hospital stay, return to routine activity/work, patient satisfaction, and recurrence at six months.
