Abstract

Cote d Ivoire, the world’s leading cocoa producer, faces numerous production constraints, notably deforestation and the effects of climate change. Agroforestry has been proposed as a sustainable solution to adress these challenges. Accordingly, this study, was conduced in the department of Daloa,, one of the main cocoa-producing areas in Cote d Ivoire, to assess the performance of pagroforestry trees introduced in cocoa plantation. Study was based, on interviews with 100 producers and, on data collected in the field. Data collection involvedn floristic inventory and the counting of dead and living agroforestry trees planted by farmers in each of the 60 plots visited, in order to determine the survival rate of agroforestry trees.
