INTEGRATION OF ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING AND ADVANCED DATA ANALYTICS FOR COST OPTIMIZATION AND SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN SAUDI CEMENT MANUFACTURING

Abstract

Saudi cement manufacturing operates at the intersection of energy-intensive production, geographically dispersed distribution, capital-intensive assets and fluctuating construction demand. Although enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems consolidate transactional records, the economic value of those records depends on their integration with process measurements and analytical decision routines. This critical integrative review examines how ERP-linked advanced analytics could reduce cost – to - serve and improve supply chain reliability across procurement, kiln operations, inventory, maintenance and outbound logistics. Thirty peer-reviewed publications were selected for their contributions to ERP integration, analytics capabilities, cement process optimisation, supply chain modelling and the Saudi industrial context. Evidence was compared through an explicit mechanism – outcome matrix rather than pooled into a causal estimate. The synthesis identifies three necessary connections: reliable reconciliation of plant and commercial data; optimisation models that respect process and service constraints; and organisational routines that convert model outputs into accountable actions. A proposed architecture and measurement protocol are evaluated through illustrative, fully disclosed cost scenarios.
