SCALABLE MOBILE APPLICATION DESIGN SYSTEMS AND REUSABLE USER INTERFACE COMPONENTS FOR SAUDI ARABIA'S DIGITAL BANKING TRANSFORMATION

Abstract

Mobile banking in Saudi Arabia is increasingly the primary channel through which customers authenticate, transfer money, pay their bills and manage their financial relationships. The pace of feature delivery can, however, lead to a proliferation of interface inconsistencies, accessibility issues and duplicated effort. This review considers whether a scalable design system and a suite of reusable UI components can balance the need for efficient development with the particular requirements of the regulated financial services sector. A structured integrative synthesis is used to bring together the research on Saudi banking usability, digital adoption, accessibility, interface localisation, modular frontend engineering and cross-platform performance. The 30 publications identified via DOI (2020-2025) are interpreted through a clearly defined set of architectural and human-centred criteria rather than being aggregated into any form of unsupported effect estimate. The synthesis makes a clear distinction between visual reuse and behavioural/transactional reuse and proposes a layered design system model comprising governed tokens, accessible primitives, financial workflow patterns and institution-specific compositions. The findings suggest that standardisation is most likely to deliver benefit when the shared components encode accessible states, Arabic directionality, transaction disclosure, error recovery and security boundaries, with the potential for audited variation.
