Abstract

High incidence of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) has been reported post operatively worldwide and definite prophylactic guidelines have been formulated to prevent it. Our institution had no policy of giving thrmboprophylaxis as incidence was thought to be low. This study was conducted to see the incidence of DVT in our patients. Results showed that there is almost equal incidence of DVT in our patients as compared to reported in literature. Thus it was concluded that thromboprophylaxis should be given to patients undergoing major lower limb surgeries.
