Abstract
Memecylon kurichiarensis Sivu, Aswathi. P et N. S. Pradeep, a new species of Melastomataceae collected from the high altitude shola forest in Wayanad district, Kerala, India is described and illustrated. The species resembles Memecylon lawsoni Gamble and M. wayanadense Ratheesh & al., but clearly distinct by the profuse habit, oblong-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic-lanceolate leaves with acuminate or obtuse to retuse apex, flowers with fairly long pedicels etc.
