Expectations of Tourism Industry on Competencies and Tourism Education

Evolvement of tourism industry dates back to 2000 years and at present it is one of the fastest growing sectors in the globe today. This has led to the growth of tourism education in the form of graduate, post graduate and certificate courses. Though many researchers have been done on tourism curriculum design but to what extent this curriculum meets the industry requirements. The main objective of the study is to understand the competencies expected by tourism industry and role of tourism education in meeting the needs of industry requirements. This study is mainly based on the review of various articles on tourism industry expectations on competencies and role of tourism education.
