Disability Management: A Comparative Study between USA, China and India

Abstract

Medical Science, Assistive Technologies, Alternate Skill Development, concept of Barrier free environment etc have augmented the life of persons with all kinds and degrees of disabilities. This has given rise to a new concept of life management and persons are able to lead a productive and independent life even after moderate to severe disabilities. Steps are being taken across the world to utilize this modern concept of disability management. However there is a wide gap between the approach of developed and developing countries, resulting into wider gap in the quality of life of individuals with disabilities in USA & India. Present paper analyses the difference in approach as well as policy framework by a comparative study and suggests the new approach in the larger interest of India.
