A STUDY OF COMPOSITAE FAMILY IN RELATION TO HOMOEOPATHIC PHARMACY

According to HPI Homeopathic Pharmacy is concerned with collection, identification, preparation, standardization and preservation of the drugs used in homoeopathic practice. In homoeopathy medicines are preparing from different sources right from vegetable kingdom to isodes. Among those sources most of our homeopathic preparations are from plant kingdom. It is a large source having different families under this subfamilies, different generas, different species are there. Maximum number of plants have been recorded from the family Asteraceae. Compositae family (Asteraceae) is 2^nd largest family after Orchidaceae family and almost 76 homoeopathic medicines are preparing from this family.

Our Hahnemann the founder of Homoeopathy is the father of experimental pharmacology has proved drugs on healthy human beings based on Similia Similibus Curentur and our master taught the principles in his organon and homoeopathic philosophy. All proved drug symptoms recorded in a book called Materia medica, index of all homoeopathic drugs seen in repertory in the form of rubrics. Before proving task behind us is preparation and standardization of drugs that is knowledge of homoeopathic pharmacy. Homoeopathic pharmacy is the back bone for us as Hahnemann mentioned in §264 & 265 that physician himself prepare the genuine medicine to cure sick people.
