Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming Human Resource Management (HRM), offering efficiency in recruitment, performance evaluation, and workforce planning, while raising concerns of bias, fairness, and sustainability. This paper examines the efficiency equity equation in AI driven HRM, moving from efficiency outcomes to equity challenges and finally to sustainability integration. A systematic literature review using the PRISMAmethodology was conducted across major databases, resulting in the selection of most aligned peer reviewed studies. These sources include bibliometric reviews, surveys, and conceptual analyses. The paper progresses by first outlining efficiency gains, then addressing risks of inequity and trust, and finally situating AI HRM within sustainable organizational strategies. In doing so, it highlights the need for ethical governance frameworks to reconcile efficiency with equity.
