Abstract

Background and Objective: The rapid expansion of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment in Sub-Saharan Africa raises environmental and occupational health concerns because of the continued use of refrigerants with high global warming potential (GWP) and, for some substances, ozone depletion potential (ODP). However, empirical data on users’ knowledge and refrigerant traceability remain limited. This study aimed to assess refrigerant knowledge among equipment users in Togo, identify factors associated with knowledge levels, and characterise refrigerant composition and composition based environmental indicators.
