Abstract

A preliminary study assessing the quality of rainwater collected from house roofs and in the open air to be used for human consumption as an alternative to the lack of reassuring access to drinking water for households was conducted in Kenge in the Democratic Republic of Congo. With reference to the samples collected and analysed both on the physico-chemical and microbiological aspects, there is reason to believe that these waters remain somewhat non-compliant with the standards for consumption. Knowing well the shortage of this commodity in Kenge, it is necessary to proceed with a prior treatment before any human consumption.
