Abstract
Diabetes mellitus remains a formidable global health challenge characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, impaired insulin dynamics, and progressive pancreatic β-cell dysfunction. Although conventional synthetic drugs are widely utilized, their associated limitations, including adverse side effects, high costs, and diminishing efficacy over time, drive the continuous search for safer, multi-targeted natural therapeutics. The Unani system of medicine relies heavily on polyherbal formulations to manage metabolic conditions through synergistic phytotherapeutic mechanisms. This experimental study evaluated the acute antihyperglycemic activity of Tablet Dolabi, a polyherbal Unani formulation comprising Gymnema sylvestre, Bambusa bambos, Rumex vesicarius, Asphaltum (Shilajit), and Acacia arabica.
